Program Evaluation
Why Evaluate?

"It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble.

It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.”

--Mark Twain

Process Evaluation

Process evaluation helps us understand how and why programs are successful or unsuccessful. During project development and implementation, process evaluation:

  • tells us what elements make programs successful,
  • identifies unforeseen challenges, and
  • informs program improvements.

Caros will collect data for process evaluation from a variety of sources: informal interviews, project team meetings, surveys, and other project specific sources.

Outcome Evaluation
Every program aiming to create sustainable behavior change needs to document outcomes (i.e., behavior changes) and make the strongest case possible that those changes resulted from the program. The best measures of behavior change are direct measures of behavior (e.g., household electricity use) rather than self-reports, behavioral intentions, or awareness measures. We help program planners utilize the most robust social science research methods to document the impact of their program.
